Where to Stay in Milan

We took advantage of the Ryanair Christmas sale and booked a very cheap flight to Milan for the weekend in January. With so little time, it was essential that we stayed in a central location, easily accessible to all the main attractions.

Hotel Cavour Milano

We were invited to stay at Hotel Cavour, a 4 star hotel located in the heart of Milan.

The hotel has 125 rooms and the fashion district Via Montenapoleone is just at its doorstep. The hotel was renovated in 2012 and currently has a mixture of classic rooms, superior rooms and beautiful modern suites.

Location

There are 2 main airports in Milan- Bergamo airport and Malpensa airport. We flew in via Bergamo and getting to Milan central was very easy. We pre-booked airport shuttle on http://www.terravision.eu/ and it was only cost €9 each return!

The bus ride was around an hour long but it was so much easier than getting public transport and so much cheaper than getting a taxi.

The bus drops you off at Milan Central station which is only 2 stops away by Metro from Turati (M3 line). Hotel Cavour is a 2 minute walk from Turati station.

There is also a tram stop seconds away from the hotel that will take you on a scenic route to the infamous Duomo di Milano (tram 1).

The Room

We stayed in one of their newly renovated executive suite (so posh!). Our room had a massive bed, massive bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe. There was even mood lighting in the ceiling where you can select what colour light you wanted.

One of the coolest features of the bathroom was the television under the mirror! You won’t get bored brushing your teeth for sure! The bath was nice a deep and they provide you with full size toiletries as well as luxurious bathrobes. The shower also had mood lighting and again, you can choose the colour of light you want.

The walk-in wardrobe is a dream come true. Usually when we travel, our hotel room is littered with suitcases, bags and clothes. With the walk in wardrobe, we were able to store all our mess away from the bedroom area. We also really liked the fact that they provided us with slippers. Such a nice touch!

Breakfast

Breakfast is served from 7am-10am. It fitted with our schedule really well as we had a very early start to the day. We loved the breakfast buffet as they had everything to suit everyone’s taste. Not only did they have a large selection of pastries, they also had eggs and bacon. They also had the most amazing Italian coffee which was very much appreciated at 7am in the morning!

Check-out

One thing we loved about this hotel was the check-out time. Most hotels force you to check out before 11am but Hotel Cavour’s check-out time is 12pm. We were out all morning for a photo shoot with Vittore Buzzi and we were able to come back to the hotel, get changed and relax before we had to check-out.

Our Thoughts

Although it was a 4 star hotel, Hotel Cavour won 5 stars in our hearts. We truly enjoyed our short stay there. The room was perfect in every way, breakfast was fantastic, there was no fault with their service and the location was really convenient.

We loved the way they paid attention to the small details like providing us with full size toiletries, slippers and robes. The little things like selecting your own colour lighting might not seem like a big deal but we actually had a lot of fun with it!

We really don’t have a single negative comment about this hotel. It’s been a while since we have stayed in a hotel where every aspect was perfect! We wish we had longer in Milan so that we can enjoy their spa and gym facilities, perhaps next time!

We are so glad we stayed in Hotel Cavour during our short time in Milan. We were able to spend a significant amount of time enjoying our beautiful room.

Hotel Cavour Milan

We honestly would recommend this hotel for anyone considering visiting Milan.

Thank you so much Hotel Cavour for having us and giving us an unforgettable experience!
