BLUESEA CLUB MARHTAS MALLORCA- A Review

We spent a wonderful week in Mallorca during October half-term! I can’t believe we haven’t visited sooner! It was still lovely and warm there but we did have a little rain for a few minutes here or there.

We stayed at BLUESEA Club Marthas and this is our review.

THE HOTEL

BLUESEA Club Marthas is located in the popular area of Cala D’or, on the southeast coast of Mallorca. It is around an hour drive from Palma airport. The hotel has 213 apartments and 66 studios, which means that everyone has access to a kitchen (great for those who wants to do half-board!).

The hotel is quipped with 4 pool which includes a heated indoor pool and a large shallow kids pool. For the fitness fanatics, there is also a fully-kitted gym, tennis, table-tennis and football court! The reception can also help with booking any transfers, activities and excursions.

ROOM

We stayed at a ground-floor one-bed apartment with a garden terrace and pool view. We found the location of the room very convenient as we were close to the main entrance and the pool.

The decor is a little dated but the apartment was clean and spacious. We had a fridge, hob, kitchen sink, dinning table, TV and a sofa bed that can comfortably sleep 2. The bedroom was also big with large wardrobes and plenty of storage.

The bathroom appears to be recently refurbished. We did have a problem of a leaky shower screen and the bathroom floor got pretty wet, but it wasn’t a big enough of an issue for us to want to change room.

The apartment was cleaned daily and towels changed. We were actually really impressed with the cleaning. Despite us bringing sand in with our shoes, the floor was always spotless!

FOOD

They have one main restaurant for buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner (snacks available in-between). They also have a restaurant called Natalie’s on site where you can order food from the menu (extra cost).

The Mooguie bar is situated near the entertainment area where you can order all inclusive drinks. We are not massive alcohol drinkers so we can’t comment much on the drinks. We did find that some of the drink options were too syrupy and sweet.

Bluesea Club Marthas

We were blown away by the food at this resort! The verity was fantastic and everyday the food was different. Some of the most memorable meals were paella, prawns, grilled pork chops and sushi! The live cooking station always had amazing food on offer, cooked right in front of you.

They always have food suitable for children, such as chicken nuggets and chips. We never had to worry about the boys not liking the food.

POOLS

As mentioned, there are plenty of pools to choose from at BLUESEA Club Marthas. There are plenty of sunbeds around both pool areas. They also have extra sunbeds stacked up so you can lounge in the lawn area. There are also plenty of floaties around for everyone to use!

Like most resorts, people do put towels down to reserve their sunbeds early in the day. However, we didn’t have any problems getting sunbeds during our stay.

We really appreciated the heated pool and we didn’t have to worry about not being able to swim when it was raining. Most of the time, we had the indoor pool to ourselves!

Bluesea Club Marthas

I do have to mention though, there is an extra fee to hire pool towels at this hotel (a €20 refundable deposit and a daily fee. €8 for a week). I would recommend brining your own towels or going down to the nearby shops and purchasing your own (around €10 for 3 towels). I would have preferred if the hotel pool towels were free to use as we weren’t able to dry our own towels fast enough some days!

ENTERTAINMENTS

The hotel provides entertainments throughout the day. We didn’t get a chance to see many as the kids wanted to go to the beach everyday!

We did go to the Mini Disco every night. The boys looked forward to it every night! It starts at 8:30pm and it’s right outside of the restaurant. It became a little routine for us to have dinner at 7pm, and then wait outside for Mini Disco to start. There would also be other children there playing and waiting at the same time.

The Animation team was amazing! They are so talented and engaging. They were also very good at encouraging children (and adults) to dance! There are evening shows every night at 9:30pm as well. We didn’t get to see it as that’s usually the time we bath and put the kids to sleep. They do not have an official kids club but they do have kids activity during the day (usually colouring and craft).

LOCATION

As mentioned, the hotel is an hour drive away from the airport. We hired a rental car and the drive was fairly easy.

The location of this hotel is fantastic. You are a walking distant away from shops and restaurants. There is also a pharmacy and medical clinics nearby. You can also walk to Cala Ergos in 10 minutes. It is a lovely small beach with calm waters and not as busy as some of the bigger beaches. We also visited Drach Cave while we were in Mallorca and it was only 30 minute drive away from the hotel.

OUR FINAL THOUGHTS

  •  Amazing food, amazing flavours!
  •  Great size apartments, although it would be nice to see the decor updated
  •  Apartments are very clean
  •  Great place for kids, we really liked their playground
  •  Plenty of pools
  •  Would be nice if they gave pool towels for free
  •  Wonderful team of staff, very attentive and willing to help
  •  Very reasonably priced, great value for a 4* all inclusive hotel
