Glamping in Tuscany – Orlando Glamping Resort Chianti

We flew out to Italy for a wedding and we decided to stay on a few more days to enjoy the beauty of Tuscany.

The Glamping Resort Orlando in Chianti is a truly unique experience. Nestled in the hills and vineyards of Chianti, Orlando in Chianti is the perfect location for families visiting Tuscany. They are several types of accommodations available. You have a choice of mobile houses, pitches, glamping tents and even school buses (how cool?)!

While we would have loved to have chosen something a little more wild (did I mention school bus?), we were there during autumn with young kids and opted for a (warmer) mobile house. It turned out to be the right choice as it was raining and cold most of the days we were there.

LOCATION

Orlando in Chianti is in fact, not located in Orlando, but in the heart of Tuscany (think trees, hills and vineyards).

The closet airport is Florence and it’s about an hour drive to the resort. It is conveniently located in between many popular cities such as Siena and Arezzo. I would recommend hiring a car. The drive is not too difficult but expect a lot of twist and turns!

ACCOMODATION

We stayed in a NEXT XL Panorama cottage with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. It is generous in size with an outdoor terrace to enjoy the view and quiet evenings. The second bedroom can sleep 3 with it’s clever bunk bed placement. Both bedrooms are joint with a large bathroom.

There is an open-plan kitchen which was very useful on the days it rain as it gave us an opportunity to self-cater. They also provide you with a welcome pack to get you settled in.

POOL

One of the main thing that drew us to Orlando in Chianti is their pool area. There are plenty of sun loungers around, perfect for catching some Italian sunshine (if aren’t unlucky like us to catch a storm).

The boys absolutely adored the Spotty Spray Park which has plenty of space for water play.  There are also hot tubs and Jucuzzi for adults, as well as a sauna. The pool area is simply amazing and I would love to return in the summer to truly enjoy it!

ENTERTAINMENTS

There is never a dull moment with the animation team at Orlando Glamping Resort. The Animation program is top notch and I love the way they focus on nature and caring for our environment.

Every morning between 10-11am, we did arts and craft at Spotty Club. This was a highlight for the boys and they did a fantastic job with their crafts!

There is also a Spotty disco on every night (apart from Wednesdays) from 7:30pm where children (and grown ups) can show off their dance moves. You might also get to meet the resort Mascot- Spotty!

They also have Jeep drives available (ticket purchases at reception). Children can experience driving on their own around the course. It was so strange watching my boys drive, it felt like I suddenly had teenagers!

FOOD

All of the mobile houses are self-catering with a fully equipped kitchen. There are supermarkets 15 mins drive away. But if you don’t fancy cooking while on holiday, I highly recommend visiting the Bistrot del Chianti Restaurant on site. You have a choice of indoor dining and the outdoor terrace, overlooking the pools. They have the best Tuscan dishes as well as Italian classics, not to mention a selection of beautiful wines.

The food was excellent, and I love how much attention they pay on the display as well as the flavours! I will let the pictures do the talking!!

THINGS TO DO

Like us, if you want to explore Tuscany a bit more during your stay, these are what we recommend.

Florence– An hour drive away, wonder city full of good food and historical sites

Siena– A hour drive away, another city you shouldn’t miss

Radda in Chianti– Small little town, 15 mins away. Has a good supermarket and stunning views!

Greve in Chianti– Small town, 20 mins away, great place for lunch.

La Balze– We drove to Persignano to view these incredible rock formations.

      Summary

As you can see, we had an wonderful time in Italy and Orlando in Chianti made us feel so at home. It’s truly a hidden gem an a great alternative to overpriced UK holiday parks! We love that we were able to explore so much of Tuscany as well while we were there. We definitely want to return in the warmer months!
