For Graham’s 30th birthday, I surprised him with a trip to the Cotswolds.
We were lucky enough to be invited by Feldon Valley to stay in one of their beautiful lodges. We really treasured this time away as a family.
FELDON VALLEY
Feldon Valley was completed transformed in 2018 from a golf club to a place where people can also enjoy an exquisite meal and have a relaxing stay.
There are 25 en suite bedrooms across their 5 buildings. The lodges are set in the woodland parallel to the golf course. You will find the reception, coffee bar and a cosy lounge in the main lodge (with a lovely and warm fireplace!)
LODGE SUITE
The people at Feldon Valley kindly offered to host us in their Lodge Suite with a golf course view. We got there on a Friday night so we were not able to see the view but we were very impressed with the interior. Natural wood was one of the main elements of their décor and it brought a slice of nature into the space.
The room is equipped with a super king size bed and a large window and balcony overlooking the luscious golf course. The room also comes with complementary tea and coffee making facilities.
Attached to the room, there is also a fully equipped kitchen and lounge area. This is perfect for families as you have the option of self-catering.
They really know how to cater to our needs as a family. They provided a travel cot, changing pad and a nappy bin for Jacob! However, please note that there is no bathtub in the en suite bathroom and we had to bath Jacob in the kitchen sink. It wasn’t a problem at all for us because the sink was actually very large.
Waking up on Saturday morning was the best. We drew the curtain back and our jaws literally dropped! We were greeted with a phenomenal view of a frosty golf course right next to our bed. It got me really excited for Christmas as it looked like an actual winter wonderland!
FOOD
Breakfast was included with our stay. This was held in their restaurant, The Kitchen.
There was a table of continental breakfast where you can help yourself to a range of food. On top of that, you can also order a full English breakfast. I must say, this was one of the best English breakfast I have had from a hotel! Their hash browns are entirely home-made and they are extra crispy and delicious.
I also booked an evening meal at the Kitchen to celebrate Graham’s birthday. The ethos of the restaurant is ‘Nature, Community, Cotsworlds’, and their food showcases local produces and ingredients.
Their executive head chef Darren Brown has a Michelin star under his belt. He sources the best and freshest ingredients and we had the privilege of tasting his amazing work.
We absolutely loved the food there. One of the most interesting thing we had was lardo with our bread. Lardo is made out of the layer of fat on the back of a pig and mixed with seasoning and herbs. Olly, the restaurant manager described it as “spreadable bacon” and I couldn’t agree more! It was so rich and delicious!
OUR THOUGHTS
We had an amazing stay at Feldon Valley, the view from the room is unbeatable and so relaxing. The room was clean and very comfortable. We felt very welcomed by the staff and they did an excellent job at ensuring our stay was as pleasant as possible.
On Saturday night, there was a massive downpour and the main reception was unfortunately flooded. However, the staff dealt with the whole situation in such a professional manner. We were escorted to our room and they made sure we got back ok before leaving us. The staff worked tirelessly all night and restored the reception back to normal the next morning.
They were very apologetic about the situation, even though it was out of their control and completely not their fault!
Thank you so much for having us! We had a wonderful and unforgettable time!
